WW2 German War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords – Bronze Grade + Ribbon Bar + Feldspange

This is an original Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords), bronze version, awarded for exceptional service in war efforts with military relevance. It comes complete with the full-size medal, long rayon ribbon, and additional device for wear: a ribbon bar (Feldspange)

Item Details:

Medal Material: Die-struck zinc with bronze finish (present in a lightly aged tone)

Design: Maltese cross with pebbled arms, crossed swords, and central wreathed swastika over “1939”

Ribbon: Full-length original rayon ribbon in black-white-red pattern, sewn for wear

Ribbon Bar (Feldspange): Black with red-white edges and miniature swords device

Historical Context:

The War Merit Cross was instituted in 1939 to recognize important contributions to the war effort outside direct combat. When awarded with swords, it typically signified merit by military personnel under combat-related conditions — often engineers, logistics, staff, or rear-line services.

Condition:

Medal: Very good, minor wear, good patina

Ribbon: Original, intact, minor age wear and folds

Bar and miniature: Excellent condition with securely attached swords device

For Collectors:

This is a complete set ideal for display or reenactment — representing a soldier with commendable service not necessarily in front-line combat, but in active war zones. A classic and highly collectible Third Reich decoration with accessories.
