Description:
This is an original HJ Leistungsabzeichen (Hitlerjugend Sports Proficiency Badge), awarded to members of the Hitler Youth for completing physical fitness, paramilitary, and ideological training standards.
Design:
Large upward arrow with a central circular wreath bearing the inscription:
“Für Leistungen in der HJ”
In the center is a swastika.
Grade: Bronze
– The entry-level award, typically issued to boys aged 16+ who passed physical and ideological examinations.
Silver and Gold grades were awarded for higher performance or extended service.
Material: bronze-finished zinc or tombak.
Worn: On the left breast pocket of the uniform.
Historical Context:
Introduced in 1937, the HJ Leistungsabzeichen was part of the regime's effort to prepare youth for future military service. It symbolized not only physical fitness but loyalty and ideological alignment.
